Taft Sweeps Ohlone and Pasadena City in Home Doubleheader

TAFT, Calif. - Taft College earned two straight-set victories in a home doubleheader Sept. 16, sweeping Ohlone College 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 before defeating Pasadena City College 25-23, 27-25, 25-22. The Cougars won all six sets and combined a balanced attack with steady back-row defense and strong work at the net.

Taft opened the doubleheader with a 3-0 victory over Ohlone at Taft College. After securing the first set by three points, the Cougars expanded the margin with a six-point win in the second. Taft then delivered its most efficient offensive set of the match, recording 13 kills with two errors and hitting .355 in the third to complete the sweep.

Jazzahlei Satele and Jadalynn Satele led the attack against Ohlone with 10 kills apiece. Jazzahlei Satele added 15 digs and three aces, while Jadalynn Satele hit .261, collected 13 digs and recorded two solo blocks. Vienna Perier contributed across the rotation with six kills, 12 assists, 11 digs, two aces and two total blocks. Teihanni Tafisi also had 15 digs, and Railye-Marie Makainai-Kon finished with 12 assists and two aces.

The Cougars finished the opener with 35 kills, 11 aces, 62 digs and seven total blocks. Ku'uleimokihana Manaois provided two aces and two total blocks, while Havi Valdez added six kills. Taft's ability to widen the set margins allowed the Cougars to carry momentum into the afternoon match.

Pasadena City presented a tighter challenge, but Taft again won in three sets. The Cougars took the opener 25-23 and then prevailed 27-25 in an extended second set, the closest frame of the doubleheader. Taft closed the match 25-22 in the third. Jazzahlei Satele powered the offense with 17 kills and added 12 digs, and Jadalynn Satele supplied seven kills, 17 digs and two aces.

Taft totaled 40 kills, 72 digs and eight blocks against Pasadena City. Manaois anchored the net defense with three solo blocks and two block assists for five total blocks, and she also served two aces. Perier posted 15 assists and 15 digs to go with five kills, Makainai-Kon distributed 15 assists, Valdez had six kills and two total blocks, and Tafisi added 12 digs. The Cougars return home to face Cerro Coso College at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
