TAFT, Calif. - Taft College scored three times in the first half and protected the advantage through the final whistle Tuesday, Sept. 22, earning a 3-0 victory over Porterville. The Cougars’ early scoring surge proved decisive, while their defense completed a 90-minute shutout at home.
Taft opened the scoring during the first half and added two more goals before halftime. All three goals were credited to the Taft team, with no individual scorers or goal times identified. No assists were recorded. The outburst gave the Cougars a commanding cushion and allowed them to focus on maintaining their shape after the break.
The Cougars continued to generate pressure throughout the match, forcing Porterville goalkeeper Natalie Bernabe into a busy afternoon. Bernabe played all 90 minutes and made 18 saves on 21 shots faced, limiting the damage despite Taft’s sustained attacking production.
Taft’s defense made the first-half lead stand by keeping Porterville off the scoreboard in both halves.
