Three Taft College Women’s Volleyball Players Earn Academic All-State Honors
We’re celebrating three Taft College women’s volleyball student-athletes named Academic All-State on the 2025 State Academic List released by the California Community College Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association (3CWVCA). The statewide list includes 246 student-athletes from 52 colleges who achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Sophomore Vienna Perier, from Bakersfield, California, earned a 4.00 GPA, the highest among our three honorees. Perier is one of 35 student-athletes statewide to achieve a 4.0 GPA, placing the Cougar sophomore among the list’s top academic performers.
Our honorees also include sophomore Railye-Marie Makainai-Kon, from Kaneohe, Hawaii, who earned a 3.66 GPA, and 2026 graduate Shyanne Yamada, from Honolulu, Hawaii, who posted a 3.84 GPA. Both surpassed the association’s minimum GPA requirement for selection to the statewide list.
The academic recognition requires more than a qualifying GPA. All nominees must have completed at least one season of competition and accumulated a minimum of 24 units beginning with their first season of competition. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required across those accumulated units, connecting eligibility to both competitive participation and academic performance.
Join us in congratulating our Cougar honorees, and explore the full Academic All-State list to see the student-athletes recognized across California community college women’s volleyball.
