COLUMBUS, Ohio - Tree of Life Christian School fell 3-0 to Northside Christian on Tuesday, September 29, in a tightly contested varsity volleyball match. The Trojans stayed close throughout the home matchup, but Northside secured the sweep with set victories of 25-22, 25-23 and 27-25.
The opening two sets left little separation between the teams. Tree of Life finished three points short in the first set and just two points short in the second, putting the Trojans in a two-set hole despite the competitive scores. Those narrow margins reflected a match in which Tree of Life challenged Northside without quite securing a set.
Megan Donnally contributed in both the service game and the offense, recording four aces and 25 assists. Her setting supported multiple offensive contributors, with Allie Coleman delivering 11 kills. Coleman provided the largest kill total among the Trojans’ highlighted performers, giving Tree of Life a productive attacking option.
Abby Sanders and Libby Homkes added seven kills apiece, complementing Coleman’s production and giving the Trojans contributions from several hitters. Emily Thorne anchored the defensive effort with 15 digs. Together, those performances supplied offense, service pressure and defensive work as Tree of Life competed across all three closely decided sets.
The third set produced the closest finish, extending beyond the usual 25-point target as the teams battled for the required two-point margin. The Trojans reached 25 points but could not extend the match to a fourth set. Northside closed out the final set 27-25.
Tree of Life will be back for a home match on October 1 against New Hope where they will be celebrating their 3 seniors in a pink out themed night.
