Trojans Narrowly Miss Victory in Season Opener Against Columbus International
November 22, 2024 Columbus, OH Tree of Life Christian's girls basketball team faced off against Columbus International in the season opener for both teams on Friday night. Despite a spirited effort from the visiting Trojans, they fell short by a final score of 61-47. The Trojans trailed 11-6 after one quarter and 28-16 at halftime. Senior Meghan Shah paced Tree of Life with 15 points. Shah's effort's were aided by the Santamaria sisters, with Aubrey and Allegra scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Aubrey Santamaria also dominated in the paint pulling down 16 rebounds, while Shah contributed 12 rebounds, showcasing the Trojans' strength under the basket. Senior Ady Waters added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Columbus International was led by Leila Carter's game high 37 points. Assistant Coach Arin Knox-Hodges praised the team's effort, stating, "I thought we were aggressive getting to the free throw line and crashing the offensive boards tonight." The Trojans held a 24-8 advantage in free throws attempted and outscored the hosts by 10 from the free throw line. Looking forward, the Trojans will aim to secure their first win of the season as they travel to Grandview Heights on December 3, 2024.
