Tree of Life Christian opened its first home quad match in strong fashion Saturday, defeating Dayton Christian, Wilmington Christian Academy and Hillsboro Christian Academy to complete a 3-0 day.

The Trojans beat Dayton Christian in straight sets, 25-19, 25-20, then followed with another 2-0 win over Wilmington Christian Academy, 25-15, 25-15. The closest test came against Hillsboro Christian Academy, but Tree of Life Christian answered in three sets for a 25-20, 26-28, 25-23 victory to close the event.

Calvin Spitznagle paced the Trojans throughout the quad, finishing with 28 kills and 11 aces across the three matches. Taylor Chou added 13 kills, giving Tree of Life Christian another steady attacking option as the team controlled long stretches of the day at the net and from the service line.

Coach Kasey Kilian
I'm really proud of our team for delivering a very consistent and aggressive performance throughout the day. We played some really good volleyball and we're continuing to get better each and every day.

The Trojans also got key production in the front row. Jay Payne recorded four blocks, while Pascal Geiss and Sam Kutnow each finished with five blocks. Kutnow also contributed 22 assists, and Jordan Barnett added 25 assists as Tree of Life Christian kept the offense moving and generated scoring chances in all three matches.

After two relatively comfortable wins to start the day, the finale against Hillsboro Christian Academy provided the tightest moments of the quad. Tree of Life Christian claimed the first set 25-20, dropped a narrow second set 28-26, then regrouped in the deciding set and beat Hillsboro Christian Academy 25-23 to finish off the sweep of the event.

Hosting the program's first quad match, the Trojans turned the day into a complete team performance, combining efficient offense, pressure from the service line and timely blocks to protect home court in all three contests.

The Trojans play again Tuesday, April 21 at Patriot Prep.
