Tree of Life Christian School opened with authority and finished with poise Thursday night, sweeping Westland 3-0 at home. The Trojans claimed the match 25-11, 28-26, 25-25, controlling the first set, surviving a second-set lull, and still finding a way to close out the sweep.

The Trojans set the tone early with aggressive serving and steady defense. Evan Fenton delivered a huge night from the service line, piling up 30 serves and six aces to keep Westland under pressure. That push helped Tree of Life separate quickly in the opening set, where the Trojans rolled to a 25-11 win and established the kind of rhythm that carried much of the night.

The second set tested that rhythm. Westland pushed back and turned the middle portion of the match into a tight battle, but Tree of Life responded when the margin got thin. The Trojans fought through the lull, stayed composed in long rallies, and won the set 28-26. That stretch said plenty about the group, especially after Westland made the match more physical and forced Tree of Life to earn nearly every point late in the set.

Coach Kasey Kilian
I'm really proud of our team for having the grit to come back in the second set. We got down but didn't give up and fought hard to stay in the game.

Calvin Spitznagle led the attack with 13 kills, finishing points when Tree of Life needed momentum. Jordan Barnett kept the offense moving with 15 assists, helping spread touches and keep hitters in rhythm. On the back line, Pascal Geiss and Jay Payne each recorded eight digs, key work in extending rallies and giving the Trojans chances to reset the offense.

Even without a detailed rally-by-rally ledger, the shape of the match was clear. Tree of Life dominated early, absorbed Westland's best push in the middle, and still had enough discipline to finish in straight sets. For the Trojans, it was the kind of performance that reflected both talent and resolve, a confident home result powered by serving pressure, timely offense, and a defense that refused to let the match slip away.
