Tree of Life sweeps Whetstone in straight sets, 3-0
Tree of Life Christian School rolled past Whetstone in straight sets Wednesday night, earning a 3-0 win at home by scores of 25-11, 25-21, 25-14. The Trojans came in with momentum after a victory the night before, and they carried that same sharp play into this match, turning in another confident performance even while working with a new lineup.
The Trojans set the tone early with a strong opening set, controlling points from the service line and staying steady in system on the way to a 25-11 decision. Whetstone pushed back more effectively in the second set, but Tree of Life answered key stretches and maintained its edge to close out a 25-21 win. The third set looked more like the opener, with the Trojans regaining full control and finishing the sweep with a 25-14 result.
Serving consistency played a major role in the victory. Jordan Barnett, Pete Mandeville and Miles George did not miss a serve all night, helping Tree of Life keep pressure on Whetstone and prevent any prolonged scoring runs. That clean play from the end line helped the Trojans stay in command, especially in the first and third sets when momentum rarely shifted.
At the net, Evan Fenton delivered one of the team’s most efficient performances of the night, posting a .667 hitting percentage. His work helped Tree of Life capitalize on scoring chances and turn good possessions into points. The Trojans also showed strong defensive effort in the back row, where Pascal Geiss and Calvin Spitznagle finished with five digs apiece to keep rallies alive and support the team’s transition game.
Taken together, it was the kind of complete match that reflects both depth and readiness. Coming off a win the previous night, the Trojans were able to perform just as well with a new lineup, an encouraging sign as the season continues. Tree of Life combined dependable serving, efficient attacking and steady defense to deliver another result that should give the program plenty of confidence moving forward.
