The Trojans of Tree of Life Christian School faced off against Wellington in their first match of the season on August 21, 2025, at Airport GC. The Trojans, consisting of a co-ed middle school team, competed under partly sunny skies with pleasant temperatures around 72 degrees. The match format followed a 9-hole stroke play where Wellington secured a win with a score of 186 against the Trojans who posted 233. Despite the challenging course conditions, the Trojans showcased some highlights with top individual performances by James McDaniel and Will Clunk. McDaniel impressed everyone by birdieing the first hole and posted a score of 48 for the round, the best on the Trojans side. Clunk also performed notably by parring two holes, including the 15th hole, known for its difficulty, ending the day with a score of 53. Coach Holahan shared thoughts after the match, expressing how energized and excited the team was to begin the season, despite the loss. Emphasizing the match as a stepping stone, Holahan indicated that the team is enthusiastic about improving their game as the season progresses. Looking ahead, the Trojans have a busy schedule next week with two upcoming matches on August 28 against Liberty Christian and Worthington Christian, seeking to build on their current experiences and aiming for progression in their season record.
