COLUMBUS, Ohio - Tree of Life Christian School swept Liberty Union 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 22, winning 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 at home. The victory came in the second round of the sectional tournament (Trojans first game as they got a bye). The Trojans used a balanced offense to keep Liberty Union at bay throughout the match.
Tree of Life opened with its widest set margin of the night, taking the first set by 14 points. Liberty Union made the second set the closest of the match, but the Trojans secured the three-point decision for a 2-0 advantage. Tree of Life then finished with an 11-point margin in the third, completing the sweep without needing a fourth set.
Libby Homkes, Allie Coleman and Allegra Santamaria shared the attacking lead with 10 kills apiece. Their combined 30 kills gave the Trojans three equally productive options at the net rather than a single leading scorer. Megan Donnally supplied 28 assists to help drive that offense through the three-set tournament victory.
Coleman also contributed from the service line, adding three aces to her double-digit kill total. Her production made her a contributor in both the attack and the serving game, complementing the finishing work of Homkes and Santamaria. Abby Sanders added two aces, bringing the pair's combined total to five.
Trojans will play in the District Semifinal at home on Tuesday, October 27 against West Jefferson at 6pm.
