Balanced effort, Smith and Licht power Broncos past Burlington 63-28

Union Grove — Behind standout performances from guards Camryn Smith and Josie Licht, the Union Grove Broncos women’s basketball team rolled to a 63-28 conference victory over Burlington at home on Jan. 14.

Smith set the tone in the backcourt, finishing with a game-high 16 points to go along with 5 assists and 6 steals, spearheading a disruptive defensive effort that kept Burlington off-balance throughout. Licht provided the inside punch, adding 15 points and a team-best 9 rebounds as the Broncos controlled the paint and the glass in one of their most complete efforts of the season.

Union Grove’s defense framed the outcome early, turning pressure on the perimeter into transition opportunities and limiting Burlington’s quality looks in the half court. Smith’s six steals fueled several runouts, and the Broncos repeatedly converted turnovers into easy baskets. Burlington struggled to keep pace with the Broncos’ tempo, managing just 28 points for the game against a disciplined Union Grove defensive unit.

Offensively, the Broncos combined inside-out balance with improved decision-making.
