Union Grove turned in a powerful performance at the Bradford Wrestling Invite on Saturday in Kenosha, charging to a strong second-place team finish in a deep 25-team field. The Broncos piled up 187 points to place just behind champion Westosha Central (229 points) and ahead of host Kenosha Bradford’s girls squad (177.5), showcasing depth up and down the lineup and a pair of individual champions.
Leading the way for Union Grove were standouts Camden Rugg and Braxton Storbeck, who each brought home titles in their respective weight classes. Rugg dominated at 113 pounds on the boys varsity side, wrestling his way to a first-place finish while contributing a team-high 34 points. Storbeck matched that championship energy at 126 pounds, capturing first place and adding 36 points, the top individual total of the day for the Broncos.
The Broncos’ run to second place was built on far more than just two gold medals. At 106 pounds, Waylon Winter battled through a competitive bracket to finish as runner-up, scoring 18 points and setting a strong tone in the lower weights. In the upper lightweights, Union Grove stacked the podium, with Paul Keeku III placing third at 132 pounds (14 team points) and Joseph Braun grabbing third at 138 pounds with 15.5 points, giving the team a crucial scoring surge through the middle of the lineup.
Union Grove continued to rack up points in the heart of the order. At 150 pounds, Jax Braun wrestled his way to a fourth-place finish, adding 17 points in another solid showing for the Broncos. In the heavier middle weights, Sawyer Sievert placed seventh at 157 pounds with 8 points, while CJ Storbeck toughed out a challenging bracket at 175, adding a point and valuable mat experience in a deep field.
The upper weights came through with more big contributions to secure the runner-up trophy. At 190 pounds, Tanner Sievert placed seventh, scoring 12 points, and Levi Lincoln locked down a fifth-place finish at 215 pounds, chipping in 12.5 points. Heavyweight anchor Ryan Jossart capped Union Grove’s day with a strong third-place performance at 285 pounds, adding 19 points and providing a powerful close to the Broncos’ lineup.
From the opening whistle at 106 to the final bout at heavyweight, Union Grove showed balance, toughness, and resilience across the roster. With two individual champions, multiple podium finishes, and a convincing second-place team result against programs from across the region, the Broncos demonstrated that they belong among the area’s top wrestling squads. The performance at Kenosha Bradford gives the team valuable momentum and confidence as the season pushes toward conference and postseason competition.
The girls division was lead by Brooke Dummer and her 2nd place finish at 132. Brooke wrestled aggressively all day long but lost in the championship match to finish second. Other strong performers for the Lady Broncos were Abby Burnett at 138 and Zara Vazquez-Flores at 165. Girls next competition will be at Milwaukee Ronald Reagan this Saturday.
