Broncos Go 5-0 to Win East Troy Invite

Union Grove finished first at the East Troy Invite, compiling a 5-0 dual-meet record during competition Aug. 17-18 in East Troy, Wisconsin. The Broncos combined dominant team victories with unbeaten performances in three singles flights and at No. 3 doubles.

The Broncos defeated Monroe 6-1 before recording consecutive 7-0 sweeps of Edgerton, Fort Atkinson and Whitewater. Union Grove completed its unbeaten run with a 5-2 victory over Delavan, securing the top finish after winning 32 of 35 individual matches across the five duals.

Lorelei Nelson set the pace at No. 1 singles with a 5-0 record. Emma Santarelli matched that mark at No. 2 singles, while Brooke Spang also went 5-0 from the No. 3 position. Their consistency gave Union Grove a strong foundation throughout the two-day event.

Santarelli faced one of the Broncos’ toughest tests in a match against Monroe. She won a closely contested opening set 6-4, then prevailed in a second-set tiebreak to complete the 6-4, 7-6(2) victory. The result highlighted her ability to close a tight match while maintaining her perfect tournament record.

Union Grove also received an unbeaten performance from its No. 3 doubles entry. Graydon Ave/Bella Cerfus went 5-0, adding another dependable point to a lineup that surrendered only three individual matches during the five dual victories.

With Nelson, Santarelli and Spang sweeping their singles assignments and the No. 3 doubles team matching their 5-0 records, the Broncos turned balance throughout the lineup into an undefeated weekend and the East Troy Invite championship.
