Broncos Ride Strong Second Half to 32-10 Win Over Wilmot

Union Grove overcame a slow start with a decisive second-half performance, pulling away for a 32-10 conference victory over Wilmot on Friday night at Wilmot Union High School. The Broncos found their rhythm after an uneven opening and used contributions from the offense and special teams to take control after halftime.

Nathan Tucker provided an efficient scoring punch in the backfield, rushing for two touchdowns on only five carries. Jonte Everett added 65 rushing yards and a touchdown, giving Union Grove another productive option on the ground. Their work helped the Broncos finish drives and turn a close game into a comfortable second-half advantage.

Quarterback Quinn Schultz balanced the rushing attack with an effective passing performance. Schultz completed 10 of 15 passes for 161 yards and added 50 yards on the ground, accounting for 211 yards of offense. Eli Klinzing led the passing game's steady production with five receptions for 63 yards, while Justin Williamson stretched the Wilmot defense with two catches for 64 yards. Klinzing and Williamson combined for seven receptions and 127 yards.

Colt Danielson added two long field goals, giving the Broncos important points outside the red zone. Union Grove's defense also did its part, limiting Wilmot to 10 points as the Broncos created separation in the second half. The all-around performance allowed Union Grove to move past its sluggish beginning and finish with a 22-point margin on an overcast, 67-degree night.

The response after halftime was the defining element of the win. Union Grove paired Tucker and Everett's touchdown production with Schultz's dual-threat performance, reliable receiving from Klinzing and Williamson, and Danielson's two field goals. The Broncos will next travel to face Beloit Memorial at 7 p.m. CDT on Friday, Oct. 9.
