UNION GROVE, Wis. - Union Grove swept all four singles matches and won a pivotal contest at No. 3 doubles to defeat Waterford 5-2 on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Lorelei Nelson and the doubles team of Ruby Christiansen and Bella Cerfus each prevailed in three sets, giving the Broncos the decisive points in a closely contested home victory.

Nelson showed resilience at No. 1 singles after dropping her opening set 6-3. She responded with a 6-4 win in the second set before edging out a 10-8 victory in the deciding match tiebreak. Her comeback highlighted a singles lineup that supplied four of Union Grove’s five team points.

Brooke Spang took care of the No. 2 singles position with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Emma Santarelli followed with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 result at No. 3, while Allison Wolf turned in the most decisive score of the match, winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Those three straight-set victories established the foundation for the Broncos’ team win.

Christiansen and Cerfus delivered Union Grove’s doubles point at the No. 3 position. The pair won the first set 6-4 before Waterford answered with a 6-4 victory in the second. With the team result hanging on the close matches, Christiansen and Cerfus held on for a 10-8 win in the deciding tiebreak. Waterford claimed the other two doubles matches, accounting for both of its team points.
