Rosa Helps Broncos Beat Waterford 3-1 in Conference Match
UNION GROVE, Wis. - Senior Urijah scored a goal and added an assist to help Union Grove High School defeat Waterford 3-1 in a varsity boys soccer conference match Tuesday, Sept. 29. Rosa contributed directly to two of the Broncos’ three goals, providing both a finish and a setup in the two-goal victory.
Rosa’s goal accounted for one-third of Union Grove’s scoring, while his assist helped a teammate add another. His contributions gave the Broncos production from the senior in two different roles in the attack. Union Grove finished with three goals against Waterford, enough to secure the conference result despite several additional attempts that struck the frame rather than finding the net.
The Broncos hit the post or crossbar seven times in the second half, a notable series of near misses in a match they won by two. Those efforts did not add to the score, but they showed how often Union Grove came close to another finish after halftime. The woodwork was a recurring obstacle for the Broncos’ second-half attack.
At the other end, Union Grove conceded one goal, pairing that defensive result with its three-goal offensive output. Rosa’s goal and assist highlighted the winning performance. The Broncos will look to bounce back in their next contest on Thursday, Oct. 1, against Greenfield.
