The Broncos face off against Westosha Central for the second time this season.

UNION GROVE, Wis. - Union Grove High School won the third set after dropping the first two against Westosha Central in a conference volleyball match Tuesday, Oct. 6, on the Broncos’ home court in Union Grove. Improved ball control helped Union Grove regain its attacking rhythm, while serving runs and defensive play contributed to its fourth-set effort.

The matchup was the teams’ second meeting this season. At the Crusaders Cup in late August, the Falcons edged the Broncos 28-26 in a hard-fought opening set before moving quickly through the second set to secure the victory. Union Grove entered the conference rematch looking to reverse that result, but serve-receive and communication problems disrupted its offense through the first two sets.

Westosha Central’s height, strength and fast-paced attack challenged the Broncos early. Union Grove struggled to control the first contact, limiting its ability to execute at the net. The Broncos began finding better ball control late in the second set, a turning point that carried into a more effective third-set performance.

Union Grove maintained a lead throughout the third set and converted its improved control into stronger attacks. The Broncos’ serving put pressure on Westosha Central, and their front-row attackers found success against the Falcons’ defense. That combination gave Union Grove its first set win of the match after the difficult opening two sets.

Serving runs by Karis Tuckerhighlighted the Broncos’ fourth-set play, while Ava Tempestacontributed strong defense. Successful work at the net extended across the front-row attackers as Union Grove continued the improved play that began late in the second set.
