Union Grove blanks Westosha Central behind Rogowski’s two-hit shutout

Nathan Meyer | Union Grove High School | May 20, 2026

Union Grove rode a dominant outing from Jude Rogowski and an early breakthrough from Cooper Dye to a 3-0 Southern Lakes Conference win over Westosha Central on Monday at Central High School District of Westosha.

The decisive moment came in the top of the first inning, when Dye delivered a single that brought home two runs and gave the Broncos all the offense they would need. Union Grove added an insurance run in the fourth when Dye sent a solo home run to left field, finishing a strong day at the plate for the second baseman.

Rogowski handled the rest. He did not allow a run and limited Westosha Central to just two hits over the course of the shutout. Union Grove’s pitching staff recorded two strikeouts, but Rogowski was efficient throughout and kept Westosha Central from mounting sustained pressure. Novak and Schwartz accounted for the hosts’ only hits.

Dye paced the Broncos offensively, going 2-for-3 and driving in key runs. His first-inning hit put Union Grove in control, and his fourth-inning homer provided breathing room in a game where runs were hard to come by on both sides. The Broncos finished with four hits in all.

Westosha Central also got a solid effort on the mound from Johnson, who worked 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits. He struck out seven and walked two as both teams leaned heavily on pitching. Westosha Central pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, but Union Grove capitalized on its best early scoring chance and backed it with clean run prevention.

Union Grove returns home for the rematch against Westosha Central on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 4:30 PM CDT.
