Union Grove drops tight conference tennis match to Elkhorn, 4-3

Union Grove came up one match short Tuesday, falling to Elkhorn 4-3 in a tightly contested conference boys tennis dual at Union Grove High School.

The Broncos picked up victories at No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles, with Kevin Patel leading the singles effort by earning a straight-sets win at No. 4. In doubles play, Avery Woods and Finn Jacobs delivered a win at No. 2, while Brady Bates and Cade Dobrinska added another point at No. 3.

The dual was marked by narrow margins throughout. Four match tiebreakers were played, underscoring how little separated the two teams across the lineup. Union Grove claimed two of those four tiebreakers, with the Woods-Jacobs pair and the Bates-Dobrinska duo each coming through in pressure moments to secure their doubles victories.

Those results kept the Broncos in position deep into the afternoon, but Elkhorn managed to collect the fourth team point needed to edge the conference matchup. Even in defeat, Union Grove showed depth across the lineup and found key production in both singles and doubles.
