Union Grove Girls' Soccer Faces Narrow Defeat Against Germantown

In a tightly contested non-conference battle at Union Grove High School, the Union Grove Broncos suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against the Germantown Warhawks on April 8, 2025. Despite the cold weather conditions, both teams showcased a spirited competition full of strategic plays and decisive moments. The game commenced with Union Grove taking an early lead, thanks to a goal from #10 Christiansen just 10 minutes into the game, assisted by Hood. However, Germantown quickly equalized through a set-piece executed by #3 at the 24th minute. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw, setting the stage for a dramatic second half. In the second half, Germantown captured the lead with a goal by #11 at the 63rd minute, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner. This goal resulted from a breakdown in communication among the Union Grove defenders, allowing Germantown to capitalize and secure the victory. Union Grove's goalkeeper, Sam Antonneau, alongside her teammates, showed resilience throughout the game. The Broncos now look forward to their next challenge against Lake Forest Academy on April 11 in Lake Forest, IL as they aim to improve their current season record of 1-1.
