RACINE, Wis. - Union Grove completed an unbeaten run through the Racine Case Invite, finishing 5-0 and earning a share of first place during the two-day girls tennis tournament. The Broncos won 30 of their 34 courts across five dual matches, pairing consistent singles play with two doubles teams that went undefeated.
Union Grove opened its tournament schedule with a 6-1 victory over Kenosha Bradford and followed with a 5-2 win against Racine Prairie. The Broncos then swept Shoreland Lutheran 7-0, defeated Whitnall 6-1 and closed the tournament with a 6-0 victory over Park/Horlick.
Brooke Spang led Union Grove at No. 2 singles, posting a 5-0 record while losing only seven games across her five matches. Her steady performance gave the Broncos a dependable point in every dual and helped set the pace for an unbeaten weekend.
Allison Wolf was nearly as dominant at No. 4 singles. Wolf also finished 5-0 and surrendered only nine total games during the tournament. Together, Spang and Wolf went 10-0 in singles competition, providing Union Grove with production at two spots in the lineup throughout the invite.
The Broncos matched that singles success in doubles. Ada Santarelli and Lila Elsbernd completed a perfect 5-0 tournament at No. 2 doubles, while Ruby Christiansen and Bella Cerfus went 5-0 at No. 3 doubles. Those two pairings combined to win all 10 of their matches and gave Union Grove four lineup positions that did not drop a match over the two days.
Union Grove’s balance showed in each team result. The Broncos conceded more than one court only against Racine Prairie, recorded two team sweeps and won at least five courts in every dual. That consistency carried Union Grove through the full five-match schedule and secured its tie atop the Racine Case Invite standings.
