Union Grove Grabs Lead Late For Victory Over Wilmot

Union Grove snatched the lead late in their 2-1 victory over Wilmot on Thursday. The game was tied at one in the top of the sixth when an error scored one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. Broncos pitchers struck out nine, while Wilmot sat down 10. A single by Max Haley on an 0-2 count put Wilmot Panthers Varsity on the board in the bottom of the first. Union Grove took the lead, 2-1, in the top of the sixth thanks to two errors. Kody Hage earned the win for Union Grove. The righty gave up seven hits and one run over six innings, striking out eight and walking none. Jude Rogowski collected the save. Matthew Gruber went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Cooper Dye led Union Grove with three hits in four at bats. Union Grove will travel to Oconomowoc for their next game on Friday.
