Union Grove High School Boys Basketball Broncos Fall to Lake Geneva Badger

Ben Roettgen | Union Grove High School | Dec 13, 2025

In a challenging matchup on December 12, 2025, the Union Grove High School Boys Basketball Broncos faced off against the Lake Geneva Badgers at home in a regular season conference game. The final score saw the Broncos falling 60-87, marking a tough game that tilted in favor of the Badgers by the final buzzer. The game started competitively, with both teams trading points, but a significant moment occurred with less than two minutes to play in the first half. At that time, the Broncos were trailing closely at 28-33, but the Badgers powered through with an 11-point run, concluding the half at 28-44. This surge gave the Badgers a solid lead and momentum. Despite efforts by Union Grove's top scorers, Colten Tajnai and Griffin Schultz, who each scored 12 points, and strong defensive plays including four charges taken by the team early in the game, the Broncos struggled to close the gap. Key players such as Quinn Schultz, who led with 4 assists, and Tyler Johnson with 8 rebounds, showcased their skills, but couldn't shift the game's tide in their favor. Kellen Vermeer also contributed with notable defensive efforts, leading the team with 2 steals. Coach Roettgen highlighted challenges in the second half as the Broncos' attempt to ramp up pressure created openings in their defense. Looking ahead, the Broncos, currently with a record of 0-5, aim to regroup and capture their first win of the season as they face Waukesha North on December 15, 2025, at the Waukesha North.
