Union Grove High School Broncos Face Hard Fought Wrestling Match Against Elkhorn Elks
On December 16, 2025, the Union Grove High School Broncos faced off against the Elkhorn Area High School Elks in a regular season wrestling dual meet at Elkhorn High School. Despite a valiant effort from the Broncos, the final score concluded at Elkhorn 46, Union Grove 30.
The meet saw various Union Grove wrestlers securing victories in their matches. Waylon Winter, a freshman, provided an impressive start by overcoming Kyle Kolton, also a freshman from Elkhorn, via a fall in just 1:23 at the 106 lb category. Similarly, at 120 lbs and 132 lbs, Mason Hicks and Braxton Storbeck capitalized on forfeits by Elkhorn. Camden Rugg added to the Broncos' tally with a swift victory over Everett Abbe in just 42 seconds in the 126 lb weight class, and Jax Braun secured a decision win against Declan Piedot with a score of 11-6 in the 150 lb category. Tanner Sievert narrowly outscored Brogan Garry 7-6 at 190 lbs, highlighting the competitive nature of the meet.
On the other side, the Elks demonstrated strong performances, particularly in higher weight classes where they claimed significant points through both technical falls and pins, contributing to their overall win. Notables include Hunter Jazdzewsi and Maddox Riechers, who won their matches through technical falls, as well as Nathan Geaslen and Aiden Marquez Berg, who achieved pins against their Broncos' counterparts. Elkhorn also benefited from multiple Union Grove forfeits in weight classes including 157 lbs, 175 lbs, and 285 lbs, which paved the way for their higher aggregate score.
