Union Grove High School Broncos Face Setback in Season Opener Against Catholic Memorial

The Union Grove High School Broncos' women's varsity basketball team faced a challenging start to their regular season, falling to the Catholic Memorial Crusaders with a final score of 31-42 on November 25, 2025. The game, taking place at Union Grove High School, marked the first game of the year for the Broncos. During the first half, the Broncos initially took the lead, boasting a score of 16-10. Key players such as Camryn Smith, who led with 10 points, Natalie Hammes, and Ruby Christiansen, who each contributed 6 points, appeared to start strong. Unfortunately, a series of turnovers allowed the Crusaders to claw back, ending the halftime with a lead of 24-21 over the Broncos. The second half continued to prove difficult for Union Grove as they struggled to maintain their offensive momentum. Reflecting on the game, Coach Domagalski highlighted the team's defense as a strong point, successfully holding a competitive team to 42 points. However, he acknowledged the offensive challenges, attributing them to the Broncos' chemistry needing time to develop early in the season. He remained optimistic about the team's potential growth in chemistry and performance. Looking ahead, Union Grove is set to meet Bangor on November 28, 2025, at the Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by Brookfield Central High School. With a current record of 0-1, the Broncos are focusing on refining their strategies and improving their gameplay to turn around their season.
