Union Grove High School Broncos Shine at Southern Lakes Conference Tennis Tournament
Union Grove High School's Girls Tennis team made an impressive showing at the Southern Lakes Conference Tournament, held across Westosha and Wilmot High Schools on September 30, 2025. The Broncos’ skilled players competed fiercely against notable schools such as Elkhorn, Westosha, Waterford, Badger, Burlington, Wilmot, and Beloit Memorial, securing a commendable second place with a total score of 27.5, narrowly missing first place by half a point to Elkhorn’s 28.
The Broncos exhibited outstanding individual performances in the singles matches. Lorelei Nelson clinched 3rd place in the #2 singles with a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory over Badger. In the #3 singles, Elli Duval maintained her unbeaten streak, capturing the championship by overcoming Westosha with scores of 6-4, 6-3. Elli Duval’s record impressively extended to 25-0 for the season. Not to be outdone, Emma Santarelli faced an undefeated opponent from Waterford in the #4 singles, and emerged victorious, maintaining her strong season record of 23-2.
The doubles matches also highlighted the Broncos' depth and teamwork. The #1 Doubles team of Brooke Spang and Morgan Stewart landed the third-place spot with a sound 6-3, 6-1 win. Meanwhile, Sophie Madden and Addy Callewaert, competing in the #2 Doubles, triumphed over the top-seeded Westosha in the semifinals with scores of 7-6, 6-3, ultimately securing the second-place position in the final standings. The #3 Doubles pair, Allison Wolf and Brooke Bournoville, also reached the championship, finishing as runners-up.
The Union Grove coach expressed pride in the team's performance, highlighting the minimal point gap from the top spot and praising the overall effort and skill displayed. The Broncos are looking forward to their next challenge against Park/Horlick at Horlick High School on October 1, 2025, aiming to continue their successful season record of 20-2.
