Union Grove rallies past Beloit Memorial 4-1 behind Brau, timely doubles

Nathan Meyer | Union Grove High School | May 5, 2026

Union Grove erased an early deficit and took control with extra-base hits in the middle innings Saturday, beating Beloit Memorial 4-1 in a Southern Lakes Conference game at Union Grove High School.

The decisive swing came in the bottom of the fourth, when Reesman doubled home two runs to break a 1-1 tie and give the Broncos a 3-1 lead. That hit supplied the separation Union Grove needed after Beloit Memorial scored first in the opening inning on Nora's RBI single.

Union Grove answered in the bottom of the third. Reisenauer doubled to bring home the tying run, setting the stage for the Broncos' bigger breakthrough an inning later. Reesman, hitting seventh in the lineup, finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and delivered the key offensive moment of the afternoon.

Kevin Brau earned the win for Union Grove with a strong five-inning start. Brau allowed four hits and one run, struck out seven and walked four. Beloit Memorial starter Marshall went six innings and gave up four runs, three of them earned, on four hits while striking out three and walking one. Jude Rogowski closed it out to record the save.

Dinauer, Reesman, Reisenauer and Schmitz each collected a hit for the Broncos, who made the most of limited chances and backed their pitching staff with enough run support to finish the comeback. Beloit Memorial got one hit apiece from Marshall, Huebbe, Espinoza and Nora. Nora also drove in the Purple Knights' only run.

After falling behind in the first, Union Grove steadily flipped the game with clean pitching and two timely doubles. The Broncos tied it in the third, grabbed the lead for good in the fourth and kept Beloit Memorial from mounting a late response.
