Union Grove Takes Down Wilmot Behind a Strong Performance On The Mound From Ashburn
Union Grove took down Wilmot Panthers 6-4 on Tuesday. Wilmot Panthers were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run. Wilmot added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Jackson Price singled down the left field line, and Max Haley hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Union Grove tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a triple by Leo Weist, and a single by Tucker Katterhagen. A sacrifice fly by Ryan Watson gave Wilmot the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fourth. Wilmot committed an error, which helped Union Grove tie the game at four in the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Union Grove went back into the lead after Dominic Pascucci hit a sacrifice fly, and Cooper Dye grounded out, each scoring one run. Cody Ashburn pitcher a complete game for Union Grove. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking one. Haley stepped on the hill first for Wilmot. He allowed five hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Weist and Katterhagen were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Broncos. Dye and Pascucci each stole multiple bases for Union Grove. Union Grove ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. The Broncos turned one double play in the game. Union Grove will travel to Wilmot for their next game Thursday.
