Union Grove Tops Shoreland Lutheran 3-1 Behind Three-Goal Attack

Union Grove, Wis. - Union Grove High School produced three goals and held Shoreland Lutheran to one in a 3-1 victory Tuesday afternoon in Union Grove. The Broncos’ two-goal winning margin was the decisive difference in the Aug. 25 match, which began at 1:30 p.m. under partly cloudy skies with a temperature of 77 degrees.

The Broncos created the separation by finishing three attacks, giving the team enough scoring to withstand Shoreland Lutheran’s lone goal. Union Grove’s second goal accounted for the match-winning score, while the third provided the final margin. Individual scorers, assists and goal times were not recorded, but the final result reflected a productive performance from the Broncos’ attack.

Union Grove also received a steady collective effort defensively. The Broncos limited Shoreland Lutheran to one goal across the match, preventing the opposition from matching Union Grove’s production at the other end. That balance between three goals scored and only one allowed helped the Broncos close out a two-goal victory.

The 3-1 result gives Union Grove a strong performance to build on as the schedule continues. The Broncos next travel to face Badger High School at 4 p.m. CDT Thursday, Aug. 27, at Jonas Field in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
