LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - Allison Wolf won the deciding match at No. 4 singles Thursday, completing a hard-fought 4-3 conference victory for the Union Grove girls tennis team over Badger. Wolf’s 6-4, 6-4 win finished a match that came down to the final result and improved the Broncos to 5-1 in conference play and 19-3 overall.
Union Grove collected three of its four points in singles competition. Brooke Spang delivered the Broncos’ most decisive victory of the day at No. 2 singles, controlling both sets in a 6-1, 6-1 win. Spang allowed only two games across the match, giving Union Grove an important point in a team competition where every result carried added weight.
Emma Santarelli supplied another singles point in the day’s most dramatic individual matchup. After winning the opening set 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Santarelli dropped the second set 6-0. She responded in the match tiebreak, taking command for a 10-2 victory that secured the match by a 6-2, 0-6, 10-2 score.
The Broncos’ doubles point came through Ruby Christiansen and Bella Cerfus in a pressure-filled match at No. 3 doubles. Christiansen and Cerfus prevailed 7-6, 6-4, winning a tight opening-set tiebreak and carrying that momentum into the second set. Their clutch performance tied the team score at 3-3 and left the overall outcome resting on the last match still on the court.
Wolf answered with a composed performance at No. 4 singles. She earned a service-break advantage in each set and closed both by identical 6-4 scores, sealing Union Grove’s fourth team point under clear skies in Lake Geneva. The narrow victory gave the Broncos their 19th win of the season and kept them firmly positioned in the conference race at 5-1.
