Austin Catholic falls 8-0 in varsity girls soccer match
Austin Catholic High School dropped an 8-0 decision in its varsity girls soccer match Wednesday at 35320 Division Rd in Richmond. The result was decided early and continued to widen as the Crusaders struggled to slow the opposition's attack and generate a response on the other end.
The Crusaders were held scoreless, and the opponent turned repeated chances into an eight-goal outing, leaving Austin Catholic chasing the game for most of the night.
This match asked for sustained defensive work from the Crusaders. Austin Catholic spent long stretches trying to disrupt runs, clear dangerous balls and limit second chances in front of goal.
The loss moves the Crusaders' early-season record to 2-1 as it was a difficult night for Austin Catholic, but also one that gives the Crusaders areas improve upon. Finishing possessions, managing defensive pressure and responding to momentum swings will be central points as the team prepares for its next outing.
