Austin Catholic High School finished 15th Friday at the Evans Gill Invitational, led by James Zalewski’s 15th-place individual finish in a 107-golfer field at Timberwood Country Club. The Crusaders competed in a tournament that featured 23 teams, with Zalewski turning in an 83 to pace Austin Catholic on a clear, calm day.
Zalewski delivered the team’s best round of the day and gave the Crusaders a steady presence near the top of the leaderboard. Mason Mackool followed with a 93 to place 57th, while Joseph Meteer shot 96 and finished 69th. Nathan Stark came in 84th with a 101, and William LaPrise rounded out the Austin Catholic group in 105th place with a 124.
In a large field and against deep competition, Austin Catholic’s result reflected both the challenge of the event and the value of having multiple golfers gain experience in a tournament setting. With 23 teams and 107 total golfers in the field, every stroke carried weight, and Zalewski’s round stood out as the Crusaders’ most decisive performance of the day.
