Austin Catholic posts pair of 10th-place finishes at CHSL St. Anne Championships

Austin Catholic turned in a steady day at the CHSL St. Anne Championships on Wednesday in Ann Arbor, with both the boys and girls teams finishing 10th and several athletes delivering standout performances. The Crusaders also came away with three school records, giving the meet a strong headline despite the team placements.

Cassidy Bowers led the top individual results for Austin Catholic on the girls side. She won the 1,600 meters in 5:38.38, a school-record time that also earned All-Catholic honors. Bowers added another All-Catholic performance in the 800 meters, where she placed second in 2:37.27, giving the Crusaders points in two distance events and one of the meet's strongest all-around efforts.

On the boys side, Gavin Bowers delivered one of the day's biggest efforts in the 800 meters. He finished seventh in 2:11.84, setting a school record and earning All-League honors. He was also part of a school record-setting relay group for Austin Catholic. Along with Michael Beres, Matthew Beres and Jackson Hermann, Bowers helped the boys 4x400 relay set a new school mark in 4:05.65.

The record-setting performances were part of a broader day of personal bests for the Crusaders. In addition to Gavin Bowers in the 800 meters and Cassidy Bowers in the 1,600 meters, Austin Catholic saw personal records from Gavin Bowers and Andrew Rosso in the 1,600 meters and from Abigail Glynn in the 3,200 meters. Those marks added depth to the team effort and gave the Crusaders several encouraging results across distance events.

For Austin Catholic, the championship meet produced more than just team placements. It included a first-place finish from Cassidy Bowers, two All-Catholic performances, an All-League finish from Gavin Bowers and multiple new entries in the school record book. The combination gave the Crusaders a strong collection of highlights as the season continues.
