Cassidy Bowers Wins Oakland Christian Invitational to Lead Austin Catholic

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Cassidy Bowers captured the girls individual title and Gavin Bowers placed fourth in the boys race to lead Austin Catholic High School at the Oakland Christian Small School 2026 Cross-Country Invitational on Thursday at Eastwood Beach. The Crusaders also received top-20 finishes from Luke Bowers and Rose O'Connor.

Cassidy Bowers delivered Austin Catholic's best result of the meet, winning the girls race in 20 minutes, 43 seconds. Her first-place performance provided the program with an individual invitational victory. O'Connor followed with a 20th-place finish in 23:50, giving Austin Catholic two runners among the first 20 finishers.

In the boys race, Gavin Bowers stayed near the leaders and crossed the finish line fourth overall in 17:44. Luke Bowers completed Austin Catholic's recorded top pair, placing 20th in 20:13. Their finishes gave the Crusaders another top-five individual performance and a second runner inside the top 20.

The results showed front-end strength in both races, with Cassidy Bowers winning and Gavin Bowers finishing among the first four runners. Luke Bowers finished 2:29 behind Austin Catholic's boys leader, while O'Connor was 3:07 behind the girls winner. Those spreads establish clear pack-running benchmarks as the Crusaders work to move their supporting runners closer to the leading pace.

Austin Catholic placed each of its listed runners in the top 20 while producing an individual champion and a fourth-place finisher. Cassidy Bowers' victory highlighted a meet in which the Crusaders showed competitive strength at the front of both fields.
