Frankel posted a team score of 172 and defeated Austin Catholic’s 190 on Thursday in a Catholic High School League boys golf match at Knollwood Country Club.

Austin Catholic was led by James Zalewski, who turned in the Crusaders’ low round with a 41. Joseph Meteer followed with a 47, while Mason Mackool added a 50 and Nathan Stark shot 52. John Zalewski carded a 61 and Matthew Hayden finished with a 63 for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders’ team total was built from the top four scores, with James Zalewski setting the pace and Meteer giving Austin Catholic a second solid round. Mackool and Stark rounded out the counting scores as the Crusaders tried to keep up with a Frankel lineup that finished 18 strokes better on the day.

In the match, James Zalewski's score of 41 stood out as the top individual performance for Austin Catholic and was the second lowest among both schools. His achievement provided the Crusaders with a dependable top-tier number on the scoreboard. Meteer’s 47 kept Austin Catholic within range early, but the overall depth favored Frankel as the host side produced the lower team total.

Thursday’s result gives Austin Catholic a clear set of numbers to build from as the season continues. With Zalewski leading the way and several regular contributors gaining another competitive round, the Crusaders will look to trim strokes and tighten the gap in their next league outing.
