BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Senior Aley Fetterman scored with 13 minutes remaining to give Bay High School a 1-0 soccer victory over Magnificat on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 20770 Hilliard Blvd, Rocky River, OH 44116. Senior Dani Coffman provided the assist on the decisive goal. The late breakthrough settled a hard-fought match in which both teams had created several good scoring chances before halftime.
Bay’s attack generated opportunities in the first half, but the Rockets could not turn those chances into an early lead. Magnificat also threatened at the other end, testing Bay’s defense during a scoreless opening half. Neither team found a finish, leaving the match tied 0-0 at the break and the outcome still open entering the second half.
The senior connection eventually supplied the difference. Aley Fetterman finished off the assist from Dani Coffman with just 13 minutes left, putting the Rockets ahead after the teams had gone through the entire first half without a goal. It was the match’s only scoring play, giving Bay the advantage for the closing stretch.
The Rockets protected that narrow lead through the remaining minutes and finished with a shutout despite Magnificat’s earlier scoring opportunities. Bay’s defense allowed no goals in either half. The Rockets play Lakewood High School in their next contest on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
