Bay Boys Golf Shines at SVSM Invitational

The Bay High School Rockets Golf team participated in the 18-hole stroke play SVSM Invitational on August 30, 2025, held at J.E Good Park Golf Course in Akron, Ohio. The historic course, celebrating its 100th year, provided a sunny backdrop with light winds and high 70's temperatures for the event. The Rockets, competing in a 12 team invitational, secured a commendable 4th place with a team score of 356. Notable performances included Matthew Mileti, who shot an 85 with a strong display of short game skills, nearly chipping-in on several holes. Will Schrock, another standout, scored an 86, marked by a crucial 170 yard approach from the trees on the 18th hole, ending with a majestic downhill putt for a birdie. Schrock also succeeded in birdieing the second most challenging hole of the course. Sam Vardon scored a 46 on his first 9 holes, featuring a tap-in birdie on the 12th, while Ryan Skryp and Aiden Carey contributed scores of 89 and 94, respectively. Looking forward, the Rockets aim to build on their current season record of 51-35 with their next engagement at the 18-hole Invitational at Columbia Hills. Under the guidance of their coach, who emphasized playing smart and effectively tackling obstacles, the team is keen on maintaining their momentum and improving their consistency in the upcoming tournaments.
