Bay Boys Lacrosse blanks Lakewood 12-0 behind fast start and balanced attack
BAY VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay Boys Lacrosse opened quickly and never let Lakewood settle in Saturday, rolling to a 12-0 varsity win at Bay High School behind a balanced offense and a defense that controlled the game from start to finish.
The Rockets set the tone early with the decisive stretch coming almost immediately, turning a fast start into a one-sided afternoon. Bay’s offense kept pressure on the cage throughout, while the defense backed it up with a shutout effort that matched the game summary supplied by the team: a dominating performance from start to finish with strong offense and great defense.
John Messmore led the scoring with five goals and one assist, helping drive Bay’s attack all game. Joseph Boushelle added three goals and one assist, and Grady Joyce finished with two goals and five assists as the Rockets moved the ball efficiently and created scoring chances from multiple spots. John Allan chipped in two assists, and Rocco Ereditario added a goal while also collecting eight ground balls, a key part of Bay’s possession advantage.
The shutout reflected Bay’s work away from the scoring column as well. The Rockets controlled the flow with steady defensive play, limited Lakewood’s opportunities, and consistently turned stops into transition chances. Ereditario’s ground-ball production helped extend possessions and keep pressure on the visitors, and Bay’s overall command of the game prevented any momentum shift.
Played under clear skies at Bay High School, the home victory gave the Rockets a complete team result, with production spread across the offense and a defense that did not allow Lakewood on the scoreboard. In a game that was one-sided from the opening stretch, Bay’s combination of finishing, passing and defensive control made the outcome clear well before the final whistle.
