Bay Boys XC Places 3rd at Upper Sandusky Icebreaker
The Bay High Rockets boys' cross country team opened up their season at the Upper Sandusky Icebreaker on August 19, 2025, securing a commendable third-place finish amongst 14 competing teams. The meet held in Upper Sandusky drew various strong contenders, including Mount Gilead, Columbus Grove Academy, Tiffin Columbia, and others. Leading the charge for the Rockets was Sacha Jones, who clinched a 15th place finish, followed closely by Stephen Murphy and Liam Jager in 17th and 20th places, respectively. Freshman Gavin English had an impressive high school debut, finishing 27th out of 140 runners and coming in as the fourth man for the Rockets. Adrian Ray rounded out the scoring positions by capturing the 31st spot. The Rockets also saw promising efforts from their younger participants, notably 9th grader Athan Thanos, who secured 81st place, surpassing 59 other competitors. Gerry Maloney also delivered a standout performance, managing to finish near several of his teammates. The boys are slatted to run the Avon Lake Early Bird on August 30, 2025, at LCCC. The team looks to build on their success and continue their competitive momentum.
