BAY VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay broke open a scoreless match with four second-half goals, including strikes by Lily Kazma and Dani Coffman four minutes apart, to defeat Avon Lake 4-1 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Rockets’ quick start after halftime provided the decisive separation in a match that had been tied 0-0 through the opening half.

Neither team found the net during the first half as Bay’s defense kept Avon Lake scoreless and the Rockets searched for a breakthrough. The match remained level at halftime, setting up a sharp change in momentum when Bay returned to the field. The teams played in mainly clear conditions with a game-time temperature of 73 degrees.

Kazma ended the deadlock four minutes into the second half, giving the Rockets a 1-0 advantage. Bay maintained the pressure, and Coffman doubled the lead just four minutes later. The two goals in an eight-minute stretch transformed a tight match and put Avon Lake in an early second-half deficit.

The Rockets added two more goals during the second half to finish with four after the break. Avon Lake also scored once, but Bay’s second-half production proved too much to overcome. Kazma and Coffman supplied the key early finishes, while the Rockets complemented their scoring with a defensive effort that held Avon Lake without a first-half goal and limited the visitors to one overall.

Bay’s response after a scoreless first half defined the victory. The Rockets turned a 0-0 halftime tie into a two-goal lead within eight minutes of the restart, then continued adding to the margin before closing out the 4-1 home win.
