Bay Boys Tennis drops back-to-back matches against Westlake, Beachwood

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School dropped a pair of tough tennis matches Tuesday at Bradley Park, falling 5-0 as the Rockets faced two established area powers in Westlake and Beachwood.

The results reflected the challenge of the day, but Bay still produced competitive stretches against strong opposition. The Rockets fought hard but came up short against GLC powerhouse Westlake and area power Beachwood, with several flights pushing points and games deeper than the final team scores suggested.

Bay's top individual highlight came from Martin Hausler at first singles against Beachwood. Hausler extended his match to three sets against Beachwood's top player, giving the Rockets one of their strongest performances of the day and showing staying power at the top of the lineup. In a match day that did not produce a team point, that effort stood out as Bay's clearest pushback against one of the area's best programs.

The Rockets were unable to turn those competitive moments into team wins in either singles or doubles play, and both opponents capitalized on their depth across the lineup. Still, Bay's effort against two proven programs offered a measuring stick early, especially in matches like Hausler's that demanded extended play and sustained composure.

Tuesday's outing ended with Bay searching for a breakthrough result, but also with a reminder of the level required against established contenders. Even in two 5-0 losses, the Rockets showed resistance in key spots, led by Hausler's three-set battle against Beachwood.
