Bay Falls to Rocky River 194-208 in Close CWC Match
Bay High School posted a consecutive score of 208 Vs. Rocky River in a closely contested CWC match Thursday at the Rockets’ home course in Avon Lake. The result dropped Bay to 3-3 in dual matches and 2-2 in conference play.
Caroline Kousaie led the Rockets with a 48, the team’s lowest round of the match. Katherine Bowler followed with a career-low 50, while Samantha Fry added a 54. Bay completed its four-player scoring total with a 56, as Lydia Oldham and Ella Taulbee each finished at that number. Stella Turrall recorded a 62.
The Rockets’ four counting scores of 48, 50, 54 and 56 combined for the final 208. Although Rocky River maintained the advantage with its 194.
Bay’s junior varsity team added a milestone performance by defeating Elyria Catholic 222-234 for its first victory of the season. The win moved The JV Rockets to 1-1 after several earlier matches were lost to rain.
June Hart delivered the top individual highlight of the JV match, firing a career-low 50. Hart’s round tied for the second-best score across the entire Bay program Thursday, giving the Rockets another encouraging result on a day when both the varsity and junior varsity lineups showed scoring progress.
