Bay Girls Golf Edges Buckeye 221-229 Behind Caroline Kousaie's 49

Caroline Kousaie birdied the second hole and posted the lowest score in the field Monday as Bay High School earned a 221-229 conference victory over Buckeye. The eight-stroke win in Valley City, Ohio, improved the Rockets girls golf team to 3-1.

The course presented a difficult test despite being in excellent condition, and Buckeye stayed within reach throughout the match. Bay answered with four counting scores of 59 or better, giving the Rockets enough consistency to secure an important conference result on Aug. 17.

Caroline Kousaie set the pace with a 49, highlighted by the birdie on No. 2. That early success became the key individual moment of the match, and Caroline Kousaie maintained the field's top position while navigating the course's challenges over the remaining holes.

Sam Fry provided Bay's second-lowest round with a 56, finishing seven strokes behind Caroline Kousaie. Ella Taulbee followed closely with a 57, while Stella Turrall completed the Rockets' scoring lineup with a 59. Those four rounds added up to Bay's winning total of 221.

Buckeye countered with a team score of 229 and kept pressure on Bay, but the Rockets' depth proved decisive. Only three strokes separated Fry, Taulbee and Stella Turrall, limiting the impact of any one difficult hole and helping Bay protect its narrow overall advantage.

The victory gave Bay its third win in four matches and another conference result built on balanced scoring. Caroline Kousaie's field-leading round supplied the low number, and the supporting scores from Fry, Taulbee and Stella Turrall carried the Rockets across the finish against a competitive Buckeye team.
