Bay Girls Track & Field Rockets Deliver Strong Performance at Lakewood Relays Invitational

On April 11, 2025, the Bay Girls Track & Field team, affectionately known as the Rockets, competed in the Lakewood Relays Invitational at Lakewood High School. The Rockets faced tough competition from schools like Avon Lake, Avon, Shaker Heights, Berea-Midpark, and the hosts themselves, securing a commendable 5th place among eight participating teams.

The event saw Bay Girls securing individual recognitions across various disciplines. In the distance category, junior Anne Weber made an impressive run in the 3200 meters, earning 5th place. The relay teams also showed strong performances; the 4x200 team comprising Jaiden Latimer-Smith, Ruby Render, Birdie Kreuger, and Annie Willmitch took 4th, while the same squad except for Mckenna Adkins replacing Render took 2nd in the 4x100 relay. The 4x400 team, including seniors Sophie Gadd and sophomores Evin Mason, Ruby Render, and Birdie Kreuger, notably finished 5th.

In the field events, the Discus Relay team of Riley Mitchell, Maddie Knack, and freshman Chloe Pyros clinched third place. Mitchell exhibited exceptional skill in Shot Put, where her season-best throw was crucial in helping her team secure the 2nd position. Coach Knack lauded Mitchell's performance, remarking on her crucial season-best throw of 87 feet on her final discus attempt, nearly breaking her personal record.

The Rockets look forward to their next challenge against the Westlake Demons at Bay Village High School on April 16, 2025. The team hopes to continue their strong showing and further improve their standings in the competitive track and field arena.
