Bay Hat Trick Powers Bay to 4-2 Victory at Medina

MEDINA, Ohio - Bay completed a hat trick, and Bay High School’s varsity boys soccer team used a decisive surge early in the second half to earn a 4-2 victory over Medina on Saturday, Sept. 5. After carrying a 1-0 advantage into halftime, the Rockets struck twice in the opening 15 minutes of the second half to seize control of a match that showcased their tactical growth and resilience.

Bay broke through between the 31st and 45th minutes, finishing an assisted goal to take the lead before intermission. The Rockets then turned possession into production immediately after halftime. Bay scored twice from the 46th through 60th minutes, helping Bay build a 3-1 advantage and creating the separation that proved decisive.

Medina stayed competitive and scored both goals after halftime. Still, the Rockets continued to push forward and restored their two-goal margin during the final 15 minutes when Bay struck again. Medina also scored in that closing segment, but Bay’s defense allowed nothing further in stoppage time.

The Rockets finished with 16 shots, placing nine on goal for a 56.3% accuracy rate. Each of Bay’s four goals included an assist, reflecting the connected attacking play that helped the team turn sustained territorial pressure into a winning result. Bay also earned nine corner kicks and delivered 10 crosses while completing 108 of 171 passes. The Rockets were especially effective in the middle third, completing 64 of 91 passes, and converted 21 of 31 attempts in the attacking third.

Bay held 50.3% of the possession and dictated extended stretches, though the match also highlighted areas for continued progress. The Rockets did not always convert possession into clear chances, and defensive transitions allowed Medina to score twice and remain within reach. Two saves and two blocked shots helped steady the back line, and the Rockets closed the match cleanly after Bay’s late goal secured a well-earned 4-2 road victory.
