Bay High Rockets Clinch Victory in Basketball Championship Game Against Cuyahoga Heights

In a thrilling culmination to the Inaugural Bay Rockets Boys Basketball Holiday Tournament, Bay High School's varsity basketball team, the Rockets, snagged a narrow victory over the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves with a final score of 52-51. The game took place at Bay High School on December 28, 2024, marking an intense contest for the championship title.

The Rockets, who leaned on strong performances from their key players, maintained a promising start with a halftime lead of 34-22. Ethan George topped the scoring with 15 points followed closely by Ryan Miller who added 11 points. The pivotal performance came from senior Ian Williams, named the Light The Fuse Player of the Game for his stellar defensive efforts and crucial offensive plays that propelled the Rockets to maintain their lead.

Amidst intense moments, senior Collin Melvin reflected on the team's performance: "Great team win! We kept our composure and never lost the lead, even when some good shots weren't falling to start the 2nd half." This sentiment captures the essence of the game, with Bay High showcasing resilience and strategic gameplay.

Looking ahead, the Rockets will next face Westlake at home on January 3, 2025. With a current record of 7-3, including a 3-1 stance in the Cleveland West Conference, the team seems well-positioned to continue their strong performance in the upcoming games.
