At the Strongsville Invitational held at Strongsville High School on September 20, the Bay High School Rockets Girls Varsity Cross Country team delivered an exceptional performance, securing a 3rd place finish among 17 competing teams. The event witnessed strong participations from schools such as Perrysburg, Rocky River, Toledo Notre Dame Academy, Westlake, Strongsville, and Olmsted Falls.

Maya Gonzalez led the Rockets by finishing 3rd with a time of 18:38. Following closely, Clare Messmore secured 9th place finishing in 19:30, Anne Weber placed 18th with 20:11, Anika Schulz was 21st finishing in 20:15, and Elyse Edelman completed the team's top performance by placing 45th with a time of 21:19.

Further contributions came from Nolie Piktel and Ainsley Scheid who finished in positions 52nd and 61st with times of 21:31 and 21:50 respectively. Notably, in the Open category, Kai Ripley took the top spot with a winning time of 21:01, and the Open team claimed a 2nd place finish, adding to the school's accomplishments during the event.

Coach Scott Snyder expressed satisfaction with the team's progress, noting the significant improvement from the previous week at Boardman where they had been outpaced significantly by Rocky River. "The girls ran a great team race with our top 4 in the top 20. Rocky River beat us by 60 points last week at Boardman; this week we closed the gap to just 4 points," commented Coach Snyder.

Looking ahead, the Rockets prepare to compete next at the Vermilion Obenour Invitational, set for September 27 at Vermilion Middle School.
