Bay High School Rockets Golf Faces St. Edward Eagles in 9-hole Dual Golf Match
On August 14, 2025, the Bay High School Rockets Golf team participated in a competitive 9-hole dual golf match against the St. Edward Eagles at Sweetbriar Golf Course. The junior varsity boys faced challenging competition under sunny skies with temperatures in the high 80s and a gentle breeze aiding their play.
The match, formatted as a 9-hole stroke play, saw the Rockets Golf team compiling a team score of 173, while the St. Edward Eagles secured a lower score of 159. Despite the result, Bay High School showcased strong individual performances. Will Schrock led the team with a score of 42, closely followed by Aidan Carey and Blake Ropelewski, each carding a 44. Sam Vardon and Deloy Johnson also contributed significantly with scores of 46 and 47, respectively.
A highlight of the match was Will Schrock's clutch chip-in, which was a pivotal moment for the Rockets. The team demonstrated skill in hitting the ball straight and avoiding higher scores, which was crucial in maintaining competitive play. The performance reflected the coach's praise for his team, particularly noting the freshman's ability to keep the ball in play and their improvements in the short game. Player Sam Vardon remarked on his own performance, noting, 'I hit the ball straight today, but left a few strokes out on the course.', highlighting areas for potential improvement in future matches.
