Bay High School Rockets Golf Faces Tough Loss at Sweetbriar Golf Course

In a closely contested event, the Bay High School Rockets Golf team, consisting of junior varsity boys, faced off against the North Ridgeville Rangers at the Sweetbriar Golf Course on August 1, 2025. The 9-hole dual golf match concluded with the Rockets posting a team score of 176, narrowly missing victory by two strokes as the Rangers finished at 174.

The match saw impressive performances, particularly from the Rockets Golf Team's younger members. Sophomore Blake Ropelewski scored a 44, highlighted by a crucial birdie on the third hole's par 4, setting a high standard early in the match. Freshman Sam 'the man' Vardon and Sophomore Will Schrock each carded a 44, showcasing the depth of talent within the team. Jack Wunder, another noteworthy performer, ended his round also with a 44, featuring four pars, demonstrating consistent play throughout the day.

The Rockets' coach commented on the team's performance, expressing pride in their potential and enjoyment in watching the young team embrace the challenges of golf. Player Blake Ropelewski reflected on his strategy, emphasizing his trust in his iron shots and focus on improving his short game. Jack Wunder, reflecting on his own play, noted the strength of his drives and identified areas for improvement.

Despite the loss, which sets their season record at 0-1, the Rockets showed signs of promising talent and determination.
