Bay High School Rockets Golf Team Shows Promise at Mustang Classic @ Bunker Hill

The Bay High School Rockets Golf team, representing the junior varsity boys, showcased impressive skills at the Mustang Classic held at Bunker Hill on August 13, 2025. Teams from counties such as Cuyahoga, Lorain, Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne participated, making up a competitive pool of 26 teams. Throughout the 18-hole stroke play tournament, the Rockets Golf team tallied a strong team score of 336, boosting their season record to an impressive 32-16. The event took place under sunny and humid conditions with temperatures in the low 90s, which the team managed well. Rockets' Will Schrock hit a career low 83, highlighted by two consecutive birdies early in his round, showcasing his strong iron play off the tee. Blake Ropelewski recorded an 85, overcoming a challenging quadruple bogey with a notable 39 on the back 9. Additionally, Aiden Carey's consistent play was crucial, scoring an 86. Key moments in the tournament included Schrock's excellent start, scoring birdies on two of his first four holes, which set a positive tone for the team. These performances underlined the continuous improvement in ball striking, a factor that coach noted as increasing the confidence of the young players. The coach expressed enthusiasm about the team's progress this week, particularly praising the developing skills of the Rockets. Looking ahead, the Rockets are set to compete in a dual match against St Edward's at the 'Briar-Patch.'
